FAST AND AFFORDABLE

We provide fast, high-end translations at prices affordable to clients, ranging from private individuals to multinational cooperations.

our services

Our services are focused on translation, localisation and proofreading.
You can expect us to be able to provide a daily minimum volume of around 5.000 words per new client. Depending on the project situation we can handle up to 10.000 words per day and client.

Translation

Translation aims to achieve the sameness of meaning across languages. In contrast to localisation, translation does not consider the cultural and linguistic context of the source and target language, but has its main emphasis on correctly transferring rational information from one language into another.

Localisation

Similarly to translation, localisation aims to achieve the sameness of meaning across languages. In contrast to translation, localisation involves a stricter focus on the cultural and linguistic context of both the target and source text which  leads to higher discrepancies between them, but  ensures the desired reception of the content in the cultural context of the target language and markets.

EXPERTISE & CLIENTS

Legal

The translation of legal text requires extreme precision, as a small mistake can have severe repercussions. After 15 years of translating legal text, we have yet to learn about a case in which our translation has had  negative legal consequences.

Economics

The translation of contents that are dealing with complex economic contexts, requires more than the knowledge of language- but a deep understanding of modern economics and technology. This is why this type of translation is always checked and finalised by one of our experts with a background in International business or a similar education.

Tech

The translation of technical documentations requires a general understanding of both past and contemporary technologies. Before we accept such a job, we make sure, that we have an in-house or freelance translator at hand who is familiar with this specific- or at least a related technology. In the latter case our translator will dedicate great detail to understanding the topic before and during translation. We won't charge our clients for the extra effort as this contributes to our most valuable asset: knowledge.

Marketing

The translation of marketing materials requires a deep understanding of cultural nuances and the subtleties of language to convey the intended message effectively. Culture has many aspects that can't all be reflected inside of a single individual. Thats why we perform all of our marketing translations  inhouse allowing for conversations that enable our translators to tap into the cultural perception and analytical skills as well as linguistic creativity of their native colleagues.

Software

The translation of software requires a deep understanding of both technical and linguistic aspects as well as the ability to quickly grasp the user experience intended to be created by the user interface. Our experienced seniors provide the deep understanding while our juniors, being digital natives, enable us to quickly grasp the UI/UX concepts at hand.

Tools of trade

Over the past 30 years, we have worked with close to every desktop and cloud CAT tool, TMS, and relevant plugin out there.

We exactly know how to use their strong sides and how to manage their shortcomings.
To list just a few examples:

SDL Trados, memoQ, Wordfast, Across, OmegaT, MemoQ, Wordbee, Déjà Vu, Transifex, Smartcat, XTM

In addition to CAT tools, we use a variety of quality assurance tools such as Verifika, xBench and Yamagata, as well as our own software and automation tools.

Our process

OUR process

Depending on our client's needs, our translation process is a multistep back and forth between human translation, pre-trained machine translation engines, editing, and quality assurance. Over the years, we have developed different workflows for different types of content, which have proven to assure consistent quality. We exclusively utilize publically available state-of-the-art technology.

If you are a translation agency or have worked on translation/localization projects before and have your own workflows in place, with adequate preparation we will be able to seamlessly incorporate our workflow into your processes.

If you do not have your own localization workflows in place, we will help you to plan and implement cost-effective localization strategies that leverage state-of-the-art technologies.

Philosophy

Philosophy

At translate.IT we recognize that our industry wouldn't exist without the linguists that eventually execute a translation. Therefore we recognize our responsibility to provide a working environment that enables them to reach their full cognitive potential. In any given project we aim to provide a unified working environment, a standardized workflow, and a complete set of linguistic assets such as TM, MT, Keytermlists, Glossaries, and reference materials.
In other words: We encourage our linguists to speak up when they have a suggestion regarding the workflows and linguistic assets

"What can be done by a project manager will be done by a project manager." is an idea we embrace at translate.IT. This doesn't mean that we expect the impossible, and when it comes to quantity vs. quality we always choose quality.
In other words: We encourage our PMs to speak up when the days become too short to harmonize the needs of linguists and clients.

"The customer is king..." but what's a king without his advisors?
We at translate.IT don't just see ourselves as your service provider but also as your advisor or ideally your business partner. Having been freelancers in the language service industry ourselves, over the years we have experienced inefficiency and unsatisfying linguistic quality when working with large Language Service Providers.

In many instances, it became apparent that those issues can be traced back to a client that does not provide the necessary linguistic and technical assets a project manager needs to enable linguists to reach their full potential.
